A game-changer is on the horizon for breast reconstruction. Scientists have modified a typical 3D printer to print out real breast tissue — made from real human cells! Instead of using ink, scientists inject tissue cells into a cartridge to print out live breast tissue. Their first product? Rebuilding the nipple. This new technology is in clinical trials now, but it’s slated to be available to plastic surgeons everywhere in the new few years.
