97-Year-Old Grandma Inspires The World With Her Gymnastic Skills

When most people think of competitive gymnasts, they imagine teenagers or people in their early 20s. It’s rare to see a gymnast past 30 that’s still competing!

97-year-old Johanna Quaas, however, is defying all odds and inspiring the world.

Johanna, from Germany, didn’t have a conventional path to being a gymnast considering how late in life she started the sport.

According to the Guinness World Records, Johanna started in gynmanstics when she was 56-years-old.

At 86 years old, she won the title of being the oldest female gymnast in the world, and was interviewed by the Guinness World Records about her experience:

Johanna initially went viral after her gymnastic routine went viral.

Naturally, people were impressed with her moves at 86 years old!

Johanna continued to practice gymnastics and compete until her retirement in 2018.

While she may not be competitive anymore, she still shares plenty of inspiration on Instagram to stay active and fit.

A lot of people can only dream of living to 97 years old, and those that do live that long often have a pretty poor quality of life at that point. Johanna, however, is showing that’s not always the case.
