Mom Who Shared Viral Photo Of Boy Battling Cancer Has A Happy Update

Beckett Burge was just two years old when he was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia back in 2018. After months of battling the disease, Beckett’s mom, Kaitlin Burge, shared a photo to illustrate how childhood cancer impacts the whole family.

Not only was little Beckett suffering, but his parents and sister were suffering right alongside him.

In a viral post shared on Facebook, Kaitlin explained, “One thing they don’t tell you about childhood cancer is that it affects the entire family. You always hear about the financial and medical struggles, but how often do you hear about the struggles families with other children face?”

She went on to say her daughter, just 15 months older than Beckett, had been through all of the ups and downs of cancer with her little brother. She wrote, “The lively, energetic, and outgoing little brother she once knew was now a quiet, sick, and very sleepy little boy. He never wanted to play. She didn’t understand how he was able to walk before this, but now he can’t even stand unassisted.”

Through it all, Beckett’s sister did her best to support him and adapted her play to accommodate his frequent breaks, medications, etc. The post was accompanied by two photos, one showing an emaciated Beckett hunched over the toilet with his sister patting his back, and the other showing Beckett alone over the toilet. In both photos, he was bent over to puke.

The post received a lot of attention because of the heart-breaking photos and situation. No one was sure what the future would hold for Beckett, but everyone was sending him and his family the best thoughts and wishes.

It’s been over a year since the post was shared on Facebook, and Kaitlin is back with another update. This time, it’s good news!

According to the Good News Movement, Beckett “is now cancer-free and back to school alongside his loving and supportive sister.”

We’re so glad to hear he’s cancer-free!
