Boutique Owner Gifts Teen $700 Dream Prom Dress After She Drove 6 Hours To Shop There

A boutique owner specializing in larger sizes recently made a teen girl’s dreams come true when she gifted the girl her dream prom dress.

Summer Lucille started Juicy Body Goddess in Charlotte, North Carolina after struggling to find clothes that cater to curvy women growing up.

Speaking with TODAY, Lucille explained, “I went to my prom looking like a church lady in a suit dress with a jacket because it was the only thing that fit. It was a very sad period in my life. But I’m thankful for those experiences now.”

Because of her background, Lucille is committed to spreading love and body positivity. She regularly shares videos on her boutique’s social media page to uplift plus-sized women, and those videos caught the eye of 18-year-old high-school senior Elyse Monroe.

As reported by TODAY, Monroe was so moved by what she saw at Juicy Body Goddess boutique that she drove six hours to the shop to find the perfect plus-size prom dress.

In an interview with People, Lucille described Monroe as “nervous and shy.” The teen came in with a firm budget of $400, but Lucille told her not to worry about the budget and to try on what she liked.

The boutique shared a compilation of Monroe trying on dresses in a heartwarming TikTok video. You could see her face lit up as tried on different gowns, but one purple gown really caught her eye. It had short sleeves that draped over her shoulders and gorgeous sequences.

Unfortunately, when they brought the dress up and said it was what they liked the best, they were informed it was $700 – far above the girl’s $400 budget.

While that would’ve put an end to finding the perfect prom dress for many people, Monroe was surprised to hear Lucille say that the dress was $700, but for her it was free!

She was in disbelief for a moment before breaking down into tears.

Speaking with TODAY, Monroe said, “Not only does it fit — but it makes me feel good about myself. Shopping is usually pretty stressful for me, which is why I mostly shop online — but we were laughing the whole time. It was actually fun.”
