Felicity Hallett, a woman living in the United Kingdom, credits a bridesmaid dress for saving her life. It’s an odd item to owe your gratitude to, but Hallett knows she would have been in a pretty ugly situation without hers.
According to The Daily Mirror, the 37-year-old woman was adjusting the bodice of her bridesmaid dress while taking pictures at her best friend’s wedding when she found a lump the size of a golf ball in her armpit.
“I normally wear loose-fitting clothes, so I felt the lump for the first time when I was wearing something snug,” Hallett told the source.
Hallett is a mother of two and a teacher living in Stoke Gifford, Bristol. She underwent six weeks of chemotherapy treatment, followed by surgery, to get rid of her breast cancer, hopefully for good. The experience has inspired her to encourage women to examine themselves better. She has taken part in a photo shoot and fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, a cancer care and support charity.
One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Perform self breast exams to protect yourself and encourage women in your social network to do the same.
