Cristiano Ronaldo Shares Why He Still Lives With His Mother

Years ago, it would’ve been a little unusual to be over the age of twenty-five and still living at home with your parents.

However, times have changed in my generation. I know a lot of millennials – couples even – who are living at home with Mom and Dad. Of course, this comes from a savings need. We’re all trying to save up for a home of our own, and usually, the easiest way is to live at home with Mom and Dad while we save up.

But someone who has plenty of disposable income wouldn’t need to live at home right? Well, Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps one of the most well-known soccer players, is 37 years old and still living with his mother.

However, it might be more accurate to say that she lives with him. And some might be wondering why someone who has tons of money would want his mother to still live with him? Why not buy her, her own home nearby? As it turns out, Ronaldo has a very sweet, very poignant response.

According to The Island news, during an interview, the soccer star was asked by a reporter, “Why is your mom still living with you? Why don’t you build her a house?”

Ronaldo explained, “My mother reared me up by sacrificing her life for me. She went to bed hungry to feed me. We had no money. She worked 7 days a week and worked nights as a cleaner to buy me a pair of football boots so I could play. My whole success is dedicated to her. And as long as she lives, she will always have everything I can give her. She is my sanctuary and my greatest gift.”

It is quite sweet. Clearly, Ronaldo thinks the world of his mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro. In fact, on her birthday, he posted a very sweet message on social media, stating, “Happy birthday to the best mother in the world, a warrior who always taught me not to give up, the best grandmother my children could ever dream of having. I love you so much, my mother! Kiss!”

His sister, Katia, was able to capture the moment on camera when their mother Dolores reads out his birthday message.

Katia shared, “I wanted to put a picture but luckily I recorded this moment that portrays this mother we have (she was reading her son’s post here @cristiano) she is our strength she is love in person the love she planted in the hearts of all of us, she with her way half strong half fragile half brute half affectionate made her story in us, thank you mom for being our mother, who God give you more health and more years of life so that there are still more moments like this where love is sovereign and where only he matters.”
