A new product known as a cooling cap is enabling many cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy to keep their hair. The cap works by limiting blood flow to the scalp. As this video explains, limiting blood flow reduces the amount of the chemo drugs that reach the hair follicles. Although this treatment can be expensive and is not always covered by insurance, it has been effective for many of the patients who’ve tried it.
