The Ultimate Warrior: Joan Lunden Is Honored for Her Courage and Perseverance During Breast Cancer

When award-winning journalist and former “Good Morning America” host Joan Lunden was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, she was initially overcome by despair. But the sadness and self pity soon gave way to a new focus on fighting against cancer. Joan drew strength from the support she got from various quarters, including the WWE community and embarked on a mission to help other cancer warriors like herself. In March 2016, WWE presented her with the second annual Warrior Award for exhibiting unwavering strength and perseverance in her fight against cancer. In her acceptance speech she said, “Don’t feel sorry for yourself but get back up.”
