Woman Credits ‘Hero’ Dog For Sniffing Out Her Breast Cancer Early

A dog named Luna is being hailed a hero for detecting her owner’s breast cancer!

Dogs have been known to help people through cancer, from official service dogs to emotional support pups, offering help to their owners or patients in need. But sometimes, a dog can take things a step further, like Luna did.

According to the New York Post, 50-year-old Trisha Allison was at her home in Wilford, England, when she noticed her dog acting strange.

She explained that her 2-year-old dog jumped onto her chest and began sniffing and nudging her chest before lying down.

Allison didn’t think much of it at first, but when she noticed her breast hurting later, likely from the dog jumping on her, it prompted her to pay attention to her breasts, and she realized something wasn’t right. She decided to take it seriously. She called her doctor to get a biopsy, and that’s when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

According to the New York Post, Allison believes Luna is the reason she caught the cancer early.

The BBC reports that Allison credits her early detection to Luna. She said, “I think she knew – she’s my little lifesaver.”

The BBC said Allison has received surgery to remove the lump in her breast. She’s now waiting to see if she’ll need chemotherapy or further treatment.

“I’m feeling positive,” she said.

Luna isn’t the first dog credited with “sniffing out” cancer. Back in 2021, a woman credited her rescue dog with detecting her cancer!
