Reddit Asks, “What’s Something You Always Forget To Do?”

Are you a forgetful person? There’s no shame in that, actually.

In fact, researchers claim that being forgetful is a sign of high intelligence. That’s a comforting thought, no? It’s okay to make to-do lists or just jot down precious memories for safekeeping.

Wouldn’t it be fun to think back on what we usually forget, though? Don’t worry. Reddit’s got your back!

One Redditor posted on the AskReddit subreddit to, well, ask people, “What’s something you always forget to do?”

Interestingly enough, I found some answers under the post that I found surprising– Some answers would make you think back and question whether you actually forget to do certain things.

Here’s a list of the things that people tend to forget to do:

Ask people back

This one is about returning the favor when someone asks you a question. If they want to know what you do for work, it’s polite and keeps the conversation going to also ask them what they do.

This is probably on the list for people who are dry texters/conversationalists. First answer, and I’m already guilty. What about you?

Redditors added that asking people back or having people ask you back would avoid rambling. It’s not an interrogation or an interview. Keep the conversation flowing and pass the ball!

Reading this answer will hopefully help you exert more effort the next time you talk to someone, like most Redditors commenting under this answer.

Hug your loved ones before leaving home

What a wholesome answer! As one comment said, “You never know what can happen.”

There are variations to this one, I think. Like bowing to your elders as a greeting or farewell. One thing that’s been ingrained in Filipino culture is “pagmamano” or “mano po” which is similar to bowing, you take an elder’s offered hand and press it to your forehead as a sign of respect or a way of accepting their blessings.

In addition to doing these things before leaving home, also do these after coming home to let your loved ones know that you’ve arrived safely. You know what, hug your friends before and after meeting up as well!

Bring reusable grocery bags

Another arrow through my heart. I admit that I’m guilty of this crime. My mother and I have a dedicated drawer just for reusable bags, but there are instances where we completely forget to bring one whenever we go grocery shopping. And there are some days when I do have the bags with me and then forget them in the car.

The next time you make a grocery list, put a reminder on top to bring your own grocery bag!

Drink enough water

Stay hydrated, people! Experts used to say that a daily fluid intake of 8 cups per day is enough, but the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine actually recommends that men drink 15.5 cups and women 11.5 cups.

But some people don’t like the taste of water, even though water is tasteless. The good news is that there are lots of alternatives available! Put some fruits in with your water to get some flavor. You can count your other drinks, such as coffee or juices, for your daily fluid intake, or you can get some fluids through your food. Watermelon and cucumber are great examples of food that contain high water percentages.
