Holiday House Opens to Support Breast Cancer Research
The nation’s top interior designers are getting together to show their holiday spirit and help raise money for breast cancer research at the same time. The Holiday House has been a tradition in New York City for the past six years, according to Forbes. The house is open until Dec. 18, running each day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2 East 63rd Street. General admission is $35.
Designers will revamp a room in the Academy Mansion on the city’s Upper East Side. There will be a gala dinner, silent auction and open house, with all the proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
In total, 27 design firms are helping redecorate the house. They are using a combination of their own money and donations to complete the project. Some of the sponsoring companies include Baccarat, Fendi Casa, Sleep Studio and Tiffany & Co.
The holiday house was founded by Iris Danker who was diagnosed with breast cancer 16 years ago. She now works to raise awareness for the cause while celebrating life’s special moments like the holiday season.
