Hospital Opens Boutique for Breast Cancer Patients

If you don’t know anyone with breast cancer then you may not be familiar with everything involved in the diagnosis. In addition to having to undergo a mix of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, there are a range of products meant to improve the quality of life of the patients. According to the Billings Gazette, Eva’s Boutique is a new specialty store for breast cancer survivors located in Yellowstone Medical Center West in Montana.

Patients at the Yellowstone Breast Center inside the hospital can purchase bras and prostheses without having to leave the building after an appointment with their physician.

Bella Riewaldt, who was the first customer at the shop, learned she had breast cancer in the fall of 2013. She offered some insight into shopping at the store.

“Here, I get to see what it will look like and feel like,” Riewaldt told the source. “I feel like everyone has done this just for me.”

Eva’s Boutique is named after a 48-year-old breast cancer survivor. In Eva’s case, the disease was detected early and was able to be treated successfully. Through philanthropic efforts, she then started a program to provide free mammograms to women over 40 who are uninsured or underinsured.
