Music inspires us in ways that words alone never could. A song can speak directly to someone’s soul, whether or not that person understands the language of the lyrics.
Famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has been touching audiences with his music for decades, singing messages of love and hope to millions all over the world. His new album, “Sì” is so beautiful that even those who don’t generally appreciate an opera singer will appreciate his transcendent talent.
The album features something his other works haven’t: a duet by Andrea and his son, Matteo Bocelli, singing “Fall On Me.” Their voices are different, but the blend is superb. The emotional song will be featured in the soundtrack for the Disney film, “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” set to come out during the 2018 holiday season. In the duet, the seasoned singer and his 21-year-old son present a gorgeous musical story about love, support, and family.
The album is a family affair as Matteo’s brother, Amos Bocelli, plays piano on the album during the songs “Sono Qui” (I am Here) an “Ali di Libertà.” The musical talent is strong in the Bocelli family!
The album was released in October of 2018, and music video for “Fall On Me” was released on the internet in September and has already been viewed by millions.
Andrea said that singing with Matteo gave a new depth and meaning to his singing that he hadn’t experience before. While the voices are similar in pitch, they’re connected on a deeper level than just sound and timing.
“Technically they are very different,” Andrea said of his and his son’s voices, “but there is one thing that makes them most similar: the attitude. That characteristic way of expressing yourself through your voice. This makes Matteo and I very similar. But that is something that you cannot learn, that cannot be taught. That is something you are born with.”
Take a look at this gentle-but-strong song about unconditional love and support below, and watch the story of Matteo growing up with his dad. The lyrics speak to any parent and child:
“With open arms
Fall on me
From where you are
Fall on me
With all your light”
