We could all do more for the people around us, including the heroes who help others.
Good Samaritans make a difference every day with simple yet crucial favors, like the volunteers who drive cancer patients to chemotherapy treatments, or the kind neighbors who deliver hot meals. It’s important to keep empowering such charitable acts. That’s why Jiffy Lube is on a mission to give back to local communities.
As part of its “Do More” program, the automotive company awards a year’s worth of preventive maintenance service to people who use their vehicles to help others in need.
Lien Kingston of Houston, Texas, is one of their recipients. As a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program, she ensures cancer patients make it to their doctor’s appointments. She has given more than 500 rides since 2016.
“I feel like I’m making an impact on someone’s life. [I’m] there for them, and give them a little peace of mind,” she said. “And to come for them to let them know they’re not alone in this process.”
Jiffy Lube also honored Dr. LaMenta Conway, founder of the I Am Abel Foundation. Through her nonprofit, Dr. Conway opens doors for underrepresented youth hoping to become medical professionals. She drives Chicago area students to classes, seminars, and mentoring opportunities to help them break into the medical field.

Veteran Bob Yohn, a former teacher and middle school principal, earned Jiffy Lube’s recognition with his work after retirement. In 2013, Bob became a full-time volunteer driver for Portland’s Ride Connection. He drives eight hours a day, five days a week, getting other veterans and elderly locals where they need to go. Not only has he driven more than 100,000 miles, but he’s made genuine, lasting connections with his passengers.
What a fantastic way to keep the kindness rolling! Thank you, Jiffy Lube, for making these heroes’ noble jobs easier.
