Kale has stormed onto the health food scene and swept up millions of salads in its wake, but is it all it’s cracked up to be? Is kale the end-all-be-all of superfoods?
The CDC recently published a study entitled Defining Powerhouse Fruits and Vegetables: A Nutrient Density Approach wherein kale landed in the middle of the pack for nutrient density. Turns out other vegetables also have remarkable health benefits such as the compounds in broccoli, cauliflower, and watercress which can block lung cancer progression. Watercress may even have the ability to suppress breast cancer cell development by “turning off” a signal in the body and thereby starving the growing tumor of essential blood and oxygen.
The moral of the story: always eat your veggies!Whizzco
