The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has announced a partnership with Entertainment Industry Foundation Canada and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) to support breast cancer research through a television event. "Stand Up To Cancer" is scheduled to air Friday, September 5, at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Stand Up To Cancer, or SU2C, intends to use the funds raised through the television event to create what are being called "dream teams," or grouping of scientists from different disciplines who will work toward one goal: ending cancer. The idea is that collaborating across specific areas of expertise will catalyze new ways of thinking and sharing knowledge in the fight against cancer.
CIBC, a partner of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for over 20 years, expressed its excitement and happiness to be a part of the SU2C initiative in a statement given by executive vice president Christina Kramer.
"For more than two decades, CIBC has partnered with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds for breast cancer research, advocacy and treatment," Kramer said. "We are thrilled to be a part of Stand Up To Cancer which offers the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of people affected by breast cancer."
All funds raised during the broadcast will be used domestically in Canada to further research, education and awareness of cancer.Whizzco
