Fighting breast cancer can be a long and difficult battle, but the journey is made easier with the help and support of friends and family. Art from The Alabama Project conveys that notion and portrays the lives of breast cancer survivors. The project is an art exhibit featuring images taken by photographer David Jay. Breast cancer survivors and their families are the stars of the photos.
The Alabama Project contains images of survivors living in the state of Alabama. Some of the photos feature the women in their home, by themselves, while others may share a touching moment between mother and daughter. The series of black and white pictures captures the struggles, heartache, strength and endurance that comes with fighting and surviving breast cancer. Several of the women in the photos have become outspoken breast cancer advocates in their community since surviving the disease. Such a transformation from patient to survivor to advocate is inspiring, to say the least.
The Alabama Project will be on display at the University of Alabama Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center located in the Wallace Tumor Institute. The display is free and open to the public.Whizzco
