Mom Warns Of “Horrible” Shopping Cart Mishap That Sent Her Baby To The E.R.

Being a parent is a lot of work, but one of the hardest parts is doing our best to keep our babies safe. Things can go from fine to bad in a matter of seconds, and you just never know where tragedy can strike.

A mom in Australia recently took to social media with a grave reminder of how fast things can go south when you’re least expecting it. The unnamed mom shared her horror story with CPR Kids, an Instagram account dedicated to educating the public on child first aid topics.

The post, which features hard-to-look at photos of baby Millie, details how a simple supermarket visit almost turned deadly thanks to a shopping cart mishap.

The post starts with a quote from Millie’s mom that says, “…Hug your little ones tight. You never know when the world will throw you a curve ball…” They went on to say, “Little Millie had a horrible accident at 6.30pm Thursday night. She was in a shopping trolley when it blew off the [curb] and tipped, hitting her head… It took all of 2 seconds for me to put her brother Lincoln in car for it to happen.”

The mom went on to explain that she rushed her baby to the hospital where they “found a large brain bleed causing pressure on her brain. She was prepped immediately. Sedated, intubated and rushed….straight into emergency brain surgery.” The two-hour surgery thankfully proved to be a success, and baby Millie was eventually admitted from the hospital and allowed to return home to her family.

Millie’s mom is now on am mission to ensure that shopping carts with child restraints have a braking system in place. She said, “I am determined to make this happen. If I can do this and it stops just one child from being injured than it will be a success.”

In the meantime, her story is a good reminder to always be vigilant and never leave a child unattended in a cart. It only takes a few seconds for something terrible to happen.
