People decide to get tattoos for a variety of reasons. For breast cancer survivors who decide to get a tattoo relating to their journey, the design they choose often symbolizes their resilience and perseverance.

Some even decide to directly cover any scars from mastectomies, lumpectomies, reconstruction, or flap procedures with works of art.
