Teen Mom Takes Son To Her High School Prom
High school prom is a right of passage for many of us. Even years later, we still recall the events and stories from our proms – some funny others unfortunate, and some that are rather heartwarming.
For 16-year-old Melissa Mccabe, her prom will forever be a heartwarming memory as it was the night that she got to take her 1-year-old son, Arthur, with her as her date.
The wholesome moment first came around after Melissa realized that there wouldn’t be anyone available to babysit Arthur the night of her high school prom. Rather than miss out on the fun, she decided she’d include him.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Melissa explained, “When prom came around, no one could really have him and I wanted him to be a part of my prom day.”
Melissa went all out, ordering her son a small three-piece suit as well as a little bow tie to go with the ensemble. Together, the mother and son duo were the cutest prom pairing there was – their pictures were definitely proof of that:
According to the outlet, Melissa said of the event, “It was honestly so cute having him with me and getting pictures taken together because we don’t really have any nice up-to-date pictures of us.”
Melissa went on to share her pictures on TikTok, where she wrote the caption, “Everyone going to prom with their boyfriends where as I took my biggest blessing.”
Needless to say, the result of the TikTok video was a viral one, as many people had tons of kind comments to share about how sweet the mother-son pair looked in their prom outfits. There were also many other young moms who were commending Melissa and her parenting style.
One wrote, “Read about this on Facebook. It can’t have been easy but you’re a fantastic mum! He’s absolutely gorgeous, as are you.”
Of course, not all the comments were pleasant, and Melissa shared that overall, the majority of the comments were positive. She also revealed that some messages were from girls in similar situations, who were worried about returning to school. But even with the negative comments littering the comments section, Melissa remained upbeat about the whole thing, saying that it’s been “really nice because it’s coming from people I don’t know.”
The young mom further shared how her son faired at prom. As anyone can imagine, little Arthur had a blast! Melissa let everyone know that it seems his favorite part of the event was all the snacks. Plus, Melissa also shared that many people commented on how cute her son is, or how good of a job she’s doing in raising him. And Melissa herself feels pretty proud of the job she’s doing herself, considering she’s a young, single mom.
